A. A Vashti refuses to come when her husband calls her. And an Esther submissively approaches her husband, even when she hasn’t been called.

A. Because Vashti refused to be a trophy-wife.

A. His sceptor.

A. That she was a Jewess.

A. So that there would not be an uprising among women--who followed in the footsteps of the Queen. And so that men--royal or common/ high or low--continue to be revered by their wives.

A. Every generation has its mixture of Vashtis and Esthers.
