::: A Lover's Story :::

She could write a love story

One of those love tragic love sick love hard love good novels

The ones that smear soul onto the page

She could write a lovely story of how:
They met had loved they married had loved they lived had loved they parted

At it would tell a truly perfect story

[A chapter about the Vietnam trauma that only she knew]

“He was running with a grenade in his hand. It was a suicide mission. I knew that the grenade would blow before he thought to throw it. He never even contemplated throwing it at us. Why didn’t he just throw it? I had to shoot. I saved my entire unit by shooting the little boy dead center in his forehead. A fatal wound…”

Yes. She would tell that love story too.

He was never the same when he came back from the war. Dispossessed

But it would tell about the utterly brilliant moments too.

[A Book I about their early years]

“It was the seventies and in some ways it was about everyone learning to love one another, tolerance, and in other ways it was about complete annihilation, destruction. I fell in love in a turbulent America, a war-torn Los Angeles that would quickly give way to race-riots. My mom hated him, especially when we decided that we were getting married at 19. Let’s just say he wanted to walk down the wedding aisle to Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’…”

Yes. She would tell that love story too.
