::: The Days That Are Worth It :::

The contemplation of living
from a metal folding chair
freshly lit, cigarette
draw your breath and inhale

(Breathe)

it’s just life all around you
the laughter, the love
the mystery of the young having fun
unobscured by the buzz
it’s perception perceiving people
pushing pins into pictures
friends of today’s
memories of yesterdays
looking forward to tomorrows
when it’s all gone
there’s always the frame by frame
when you’re old and
forget the faces
name by name
you know you lived it
