::: gilded smile :::

it must be my age
when I see her in the distance
with the pose of Aphrodite
her arching symmetry
in thoughtless self absorption
ensnares the hungry fool with the smooth face
which one's the playboy
I laugh to myself
as he works his game
in forced detached interest
her treacherous eyes taste his desire
but can he see through her beauty?
can he be anything other than a momentary trinket
to her vanity?
he doesn't want to see through her erotic brocade
he doesn't want to know of the curse of alure
because this young buck yearns for illusion
almost as much as she yearns for attention
his simple predictability will please her fantasy
as he salivates to the thought of possessing her beauty
until she pushes him away
awarding him her gilded smile
