::: Waiting :::

Chocolate flavored snowflakes
Fall from heaven
Harboring love’s winged victory
From the raging storm at sea.

You came to me reborn
Like a prisoner released from captivity,
Like a dry ghost in a tropical rainstorm
Whole as a plum tomato
Cured, but still longing for nostalgia’s sweet success.

In America you get a myriad of chances.
In life, too.
You can correct your mistakes,
Undo the wrong
Like correctible typewriter ribbon.

Go forward, brave one
Weave a wild web of deceit
Punish the forces that oppress you
Like the lid on Baudelaire’s exploding tea kettle.

We’ll make it.
We’ll triumph.
Love’s fates are with us.
