::: Thin Air :::

Just last spring my windows were opened
to let in the fresh air of love.
We pounded dust out of the pillows,
swept the floors, and vacuumed the rugs.

Doors swung open throughout the summer.
We welcomed guests from around the world.
Love became cocktail parties by the Jacuzzi
and midnight tussles between the sheets.

Yet, we fell in and out of love so deep
the neighbors heard the glass smash
as doors fractured the frames of our past

until my love, my house, my winter
crumbled into one lonely existence.

Without you the thin air keeps thinning.
