Theresa Gage

Art and writing have been Theresa Gage's passion and stress reliever. She enjoys nature and much of her writing reflects that. When she is not working as a nurse, Theresa likes to nurture her garden. She has kept busy as the vender coordinator at her church's bazaar the last three years, besides taking care of elderly parents with Alzheimer's. Theresa recently graduated from the Institute of Children's Literature and also has certificates of writing through Green River Community College. Poet's Art Magazine is publishing two of her poems, The Visitor and The Storm this December.

::: Rebirth :::

A madrona hangs on the edge of insanity shedding its red bark like blistered skin -rolling creamy butter from the knife and falling lifeless to the ground adding to piles of defecation.
Brittle leaves once vibrant and glossy; crumble like dry, caked mud and tumble to earth.
Mother embraces their warmth as winter blasts a cold, harsh wind.
Worms weave in and out as bugs dance a comical jig.
Compost forms sustaining the tree's life and feeling renewed, buds sprout from its limbs.
Clad in newly grained red bark; vivid green, leathery leaves emerge and white pyramid clusters blossom.
The madrona is reborn and stands tall overlooking the sound from its perch.
