::: Write to Remain Silent :::

I lost count a long time ago
of the many mistakes I've made
but I have the write to remain silent
and carry those secrets to the grave.

It's so easy to see now
hindsight is always 20/20
I'm just hoping that my past
doesn't come back to haunt me
because if skeletons start falling out of my closet
I know nobody will want me.

Past, present, and future
I never made the connection
so whenever I looked at him, I smiled
trying to hide all of my imperfections.

For years, I carried heavy burdens
my own personal silent shame
until one day, he gave me the kind of look
that made me forget three years worth of pain.

White lies can flow so subtle
just as a gentle wind blows
because it's so hard to start over
once your weaknesses have been exposed.

How can he love me with his eyes,
convince my wounded thoughts not to be violent?
I've buried a painful past forever
I have the write to remain silent.
