Peeling back words to bare gums
my pulpous sores cracked
in the dry air like a desert
oasis sucked lifeless.
My mummified sentence
struggled to break free from
the dusty thoughts, centuries-aged,
bound and shelved in
convoluted conduits, but its decimal
wasn’t proximal; it was shelved
wrongly, to remain unspoken.
