Nash

Nash Hasan arrived to the United States from the Middle East in 1978. He was 18-years of age when he left home and began attending Cooke County Community College in Gainesville, Texas

He moved to Oregon in 1979, to earn his B.S. Structural Eng degree in 1982; And-, returned back to Oregon in 1984, after working 2-years overseas, to earn his MBA/Eng Management degree in 1986.

Nash spent 23 years in Construction and Facility Management, 10 years conducting Management and Leadership training seminars, 12 years serving on various boards of non-profit professional organizations, and 1-year term serving as a Director on the Board of Directors of IFMA- Global.

In October 2006, he resigned his careers to dedicate his time and energy toward writing a book titled “Diamonds in the Rough – The Youth of America”. It’s a book of poems, addressing many of the Nightmares and Fears, Hopes and Dreams of many Young-Adults and Teens.

He wrote in this book in hopes of: First, increasing society’s awareness of the magnitude and seriousness of the issues on hand, Second, encouraging the youth to voice and bring their problems out to the open, and Third, inspiring the youth to take charge of their own lives.

Nash attributes much of his success to the compassion and the support he received from his friends and family in the Middle-East, Texas, and Oregon.

::: Hardened Child :::

You’ve given me,
The impression
As if, you were
Hardened
While speaking to me
With a voice,
That is tenderly
Softened

You’re frowning
Pretending to be
Tough
While crying
For some compassion
And love

I see you
Acting cold
Playing it bold
As if, you were
”Bad to the bone”
Yet,
Your heart is gold
Your “Soul” is old
Magical, beyond all

The twinkles
In your eyes
Tell the story
Of many lives
You’ve touched
With your barren smile

Your body is tender
Your energy is cinder
You’re, only, becoming,
Beautifully stronger

The Past
Is history
Dissipating,
From memory
You ought to face
Then, quickly, replace

Hanging on it
Much longer
Will bring you
Much grief
To remember

Leave it
Or,
Live in it
It’s a choice,
You make
Each day,
You’re awake

The present
Is a quandary
Missing
Some harmony
While struggling
For normality
Yet, the essence of it
Is, just, neutrality

The future
Is a mystery
Unfolding,
Your destiny
As you mapped it,
Yesterday

It’ll listen
To everything you say
It’ll honor
What you do, today

Soon,
It’ll appear
Wherever,
You are
My dear

Make of it
What you want
Shape it
As you like
Or, ignore it
If you wish
Soon,
You’ll, only, get
What you dish
