::: Ugly People Courting :::

Two souls, joined over wine and tossed salad roast beef
Curl their fingers together.
Courting-a slide of a rub across the thigh.
Head bump. Silly and all exciting.
The what they won’t notice hangs in the air.
His short tube sock with a dress jean.
Her acne smothered in a thick layer of concealer.
They stare lovelorn and dreaming.
About white picket fences, toaster ovens, and 401K’s.
Fingers-long, silky, stubby, chubby come together in this moment where they meet.
In a crowd, only they know this heat.
A pause.
He pounds on keys of his blackberry curve,
She trundles through her clutch pocketbook.
And they kiss.
Two dry wintry lips come together and push subtly toward a new experience.
Perhaps they are too drunk to know the difference.
His credit cards comes out and she knows this is forever
OR at least until they meet again and find the secrets they don’t want to know.
Or walk up to another stranger saying-
“Tell me, have we met before?”
