::: Prophetic Illusions :::

Whispers and screams
and belly dancing
Eskimos,
daddy called me in
for dinner as
sparks tossed in
the dusk of
summer sleep,
meanwhile
boys tried on
dresses for the
first time as
cats chased dogs
and politicians
made promises
they intended
to keep.

My calendar is
filled with blank
dates, I wish
I could remember
what I've
done on those
empty days
but it's like they say,
peel an apple
and you're one step
closer to the core.

Puzzles were taken
away from us
when we were
young,
gods formed
at the same
time, our fragile
minds slowly
breaking until
new ideas cemented
themselves,
one by one,
neatly stacked,
the whores of
the world smiling
from their
castles
high above.
