::: Mammals :::

mammals
are anchored to their bones
the hard parts are for the soft parts
it takes both
to make a body
our eyes set in holes
our hearts set in cages
our brain in the cranial shell
reaching down the spine
we are
material
mind floating
in brain firing neurons
electricity coursing
mechanical and ethereal
we beat and flit
among the living things
dying and giving birth
expanding and expiring
like the stars
from which we came
