::: Pedestal :::

Like bitter gauntlets that cut so deep
A pain richly deserved
One could revel in it a lifetime-
Sacrifice my heart-
Pawning out my soul for you-
And it will never be good enough-
I will always disappoint-
Tears abound to no avail-
Nothing changes-ever changes-
These things that go and don't make sense-
Enough to drive me mad-
Repeat myself time and again-
Not good enough for you
-why do I even bother-
When I am haunted by the past-
Crucified for unknown deeds by others that preceded my affection-
Punished and brow beaten
I cannot grasp the reason-
Why-
Jealously is your precious rage tucked safely away where no one can see
How you question your own stability-headtrips dive from demons past and come to rest on my shoulder-
This love you claim is more ownership-
On a rickety pedestal i am put to live up to delusional notions-
Outrageous ideals '
That I can never fulfill-
And I fall from grace and dare not look at your face-
For it is what you set me up for
So walk away satisfied-
The love within you has died-
And along with it my pain...
