::: Pan Plays :::

No mortal
he is strong sinew and ripe
with the scent of rutting
his teeth are sharp
his breath is hot
his hands are stronger even than his will
enticing dream!

flesh he knows and full noon day shine
mingled with the ticklegrass pleasure
of unencumbered wild embrace.

she pauses in the chase and smells his acrid odor born aloft
smiles her remembrance at his pleasure
drops the loom the babe the rake the snare
she searches for the drum and for the quickening of his answer
she smiles
and tastes her readiness with aching lips and runs.

Soft his melody lazy blown is fleeting noonday want
but quickening ears and hair and more erect
when her drums answers him his one beat back
frenzy sounds and ardor echoes
beat for beat
exquisitely ecstatical becomingness
and
the two the two the two become one.
