::: 3 a.m :::

It’s now three a.m. and so our day begins
A fist full questions, with a head nod now there in
She leaves a crack in the door, hallway light shining through
I close my eyes...pretend I’m still with you...

So you play a hero, I cast myself the fool
Blankets, blood, and Abraham I miss my final cue
Your breathe is slower now, my hand still trembling
Some will call it...a faithful offering...

Here comes daytime the toy soldiers go marching on
They never listen to busy singing pleasant songs
I see in your eyes you’ve flown far far far away
I sit on my hands...try not to look the other way...

Notes under a door carpet picking settles in
On cold tile a hard pillow’s your only friend
I know your anger, and perhaps your longings
Some will call it... one last offering...

No heroes, fools, blankets, blood, and Abraham
We missed the encore, simply left there holding hands
Under a desert sky false light comes shining through
I close my eyes...I know I’m still with you...
