I read in the December 17th issue of time magazine
just days ago
about those rounded up as purportedly complicit and guilty
in the so called Fort Dix six
with rapt attention within the heart and soul of this free thinking
and liberal spiritually minded bro
inspiration arose to compose sympathy toward kinfolk
caught in the dragnet mix
perhaps a dearly beloved prodigal son that will be desiccated
and smitten like a crow
which compassion motivated me to reach out to ease strife
from abusive licks
suffered by siblings and suffrage of flourishing businesses
now deprived of dough
a most abhorrent fate who experiences being ostracized
with taunts and kicks
in this supposed land per the cradle of democracy
forsooth where hatred doth flow
all stemming from a video store clerk who espied something
suspicious on flicks
triggering a chain reaction of wide sweeping accusations
like a cancer did grow
incriminating innocent lives because said men belonged
to certain cliques
as a result prompted me to offer commiseration and offer
a friendly hello
who testifies to his own miserable boyhood
being teased with verbal bricks
feels sensitive toward suffrage replete
in religious old parchment long turned yellow.
