::: Tears of a Bird :::

Do you understand the heart of a caged bird?
Whose cries are unseen or heard?
Beauty noticed by all who walk by and stare
Yet loneliness dwells within, feeling as though no one's there
So much world for her to see
But inside her cage she sits and swings
Calls for help only "tweets" of chatter to those on the outside
No one will open the cage so she can spread her wings and fly
Those who sense it are afraid that she will not fly back
So they sing "happy bird" songs and put on a mask
As if she won't notice when they walk on by
As if she's happy being caged and unable to fly
She sits on her bench and sings her song
"I'll be free someday, then I'll be gone"
Feathers moist but unnoticed by the  tears she's cried
The tears of a bird, unable to fly
