::: Sunset On Armageddon :::

“...Shines the last sunlight like ruby’s fire,
upon a scene so grim and dire,
One last love sets the stage,
to fall within a frozen mire....”

A bloody touch, but not in hate,
but for all the worth, it is too late.
These two lovers fallen down,
from the blades and bolts that do berrate.

Here I lay aside my love,
within the sunset high above.
Both our armor spattered mud,
and in a pool with both our blood.

My head is rested upon my helm,
my angels head upon my chest.
A final tear rolls down her face,
when she took her final rest.

Her crusted hair across my neck,
as black as the burning fields.
I clutch her lifeless hand in mine,
as to the end my body yields.

Hours ago did we both rejoice,
and sing our loves refrain!
And marvel in our own warm love,
which no one could distain.

Through the battle, side by side,
our blades swung in harmony.
The sunlight beamed upon our shields,
as we fought through the melee.

I remember it so, her green eyes,
and rosey lips did beam....
her silky skin and gentle touch,
almost an angel she did seem.

Her armor purple, mine was black...
a gem socketed in both our chest,
and standards blazen above our backs,
waving forward with our crests.

She fought with grace and temper strong,
and piled the bodies with her might,
until the scythe, it finally fell,
from an arrow direct in flight.

The steely tip had pierced her neck,
and spilled her lifeblood forth.
She dropped her blade and shed her helm,
and a cry from her soul did pourith...

I turned in horror and dismay,
to catch her slow descent.
Mistaken drop my shield quick,
another’s sword to my side lement...

My grip grew strong, despite the pain,
now both our bodies slide...
Our armor’s shining a bit less,
as the mud and steel collide.

I shed my helm with distaste,
her gauntlet upon my face...
caress my skin as on I look,
of the fate she will embrace.

I held her close, as most I could,
our armor still kept us far.
Lay we did within the mud,
as ‘round us raged the war.

She looked to me with dimming eyes,
and spoke her loves reprieve.
Shivered in her final words,
as the life drained through a seive.

I held her tight as she did shake,
and tremble while in fright.
Then she came a softly still,
and entered her final night.

I couldn’t cry or shed a tear,
as her muscles did unflex.
My soul was burned, by body broke,
and I knew that I was next.

Now here I lay upon my back,
my banner’s shred and torn.
My only love dead on my chest,
and I left here to be forlorn.

My mortal wound is burning still,
as I feel my spirit drain.
I caress her hair one last time,
and try to embrace the pain.

I watch the sun as it sets,
and brings the darkness to my eyes,
to never see the sun again,
and where my fallen soldiers lie.

My body’s cold and heavy still,
I begin to lift with all my might.
To push my love from my bod
and to regain my once clear sight.

To my feet I stagger upward strong,
to the sky my banner rise!
I take the blade back to my grip,
rekindled fire in my eyes.

O’er her body I start to march,
the enemy lands I seek,
across the plains I start to move,
my hatred starts to peak.

Before the step I start to make,
my body cracks and falls,
across my love this time I land,
to answer the final call.

Paralyzed I wait to die,
and join my fallen flame.
In timeless passion once for all,
after death us both, does claim.

So here I sit, alone in dark,
surrounded in fields of blood.
No one can her me while I cry,
as we sink into the mud.

By sunrise both we’re dead and gone,
lovers dead, side by side.
Laid waste in war by death’s machine,
and mortal rules which they abide.

Shed their armor, which held them off,
from embracing each others souls....
To Heaven’s send on wings of silver,
to live in halls of gold.

These two strong knights finally know,
in their dwellings from above,
that a driving force to fight and skill,
are driven by that of love.
