:::Nintendo Wii Conspiracy:::

Christmas 2007 all my little brother wanted was a Nintendo Wii. My whole family was on alert for this thing and it was sold out everywhere. I’m sure to his dismay, he ended up with the PlayStation 3, an also well sought out gaming system that was hard to come by. Almost 2 years later, the fight for the Nintendo Wii is still hit or miss. You’ve got to look at the sales ads, search the internet, camp outside of Best Buy or search for websites that allow pre-orders just so you can get the chance to possibly get this dang Nintendo Wii. One day I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. My fiancé and I just happened to walk into Sam’s Club and low and behold there is was. The Wii Console just being displayed as openly and as available as a bag of rice (before the rice shortage and current rationing)! Needless to say we grabbed 4 (yes 4) and went up to the cashier. Well apparently it’s only one system per customer. I had to become a member to just buy the system so I had no problem signing on the dotted line to get me one step closer to getting what thousands of other still don’t’ have.

We bought two systems that day and by the time we walked out of Sam’s (the total trip taking maybe 15-20 minutes), the supply of Wii Systems had gone from 13 to 2! We wanted to be greedy and buy another two systems and “distribute” them to other “needing” individuals, such as my brother who so desperately wanted one but Sam’s had foiled our plan! While we ranted about the rationing of these systems, it wasn’t until the release of the Nintendo Wii Fit game did I understand the logic behind the rationing.

Good old Wii Fit, the game we’ve all been waiting for. Originally released in Japan in 2007, the Wii Fit promised to be the game to help lazy American’s get off their butts and exercise. It includes yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance games to help us get rid of that “muffin top”. Well, conveniently enough, the game wasn’t released to the US until May 19,2008 which by that time the game was pretty much sold out before it hit the shelves. Needless to say, there were pre-orders and advertisements and lines wrapped around all the buildings but not enough systems to feed the masses. Interesting fact, Nintendo released 2 million Wii Fit games to Japanese and European gamers. How many did the United States get? A mere 500,000! Yep I said it, 500,000 games! Now this is a game that was selling in the UK at a rate of 90 games per minute and here we are getting a fraction of what the other countries were given! Why do you ask? Well with the crappy economy and the plummeting value of the dollar. Nintendo has set their sites on areas where they’ll get more bang for their buck-Europe. The Euro holds more economic stability than the dollar and because Nintendo is in the business of making money, they are going where the money is! So you’re telling me that now I’ve got to fill up my car with $4.00/gal regular unleaded gas and drive around to every store under the sun hoping that “today’s the day”? Heck nah, this is what is gonna happen- In the meantime we are stuck waiting until the next surprise shipment of these games come in to any Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-mart, Game Stop, or Amazon.com. All I know is I’m sick of walking into a gaming store and looking at the display boxes of the game that is “sold out everywhere”. All I know is there better be a Wii Fit chilling out in the Wii Fit box at the local Game Stop with my name on it the next time I go.

It’s so freaking dumb, how are they in it to make money when they only release such a small amount? You know who it benefits? Those a** holes on craigslist.org and backpage.com trying to sell these products for ungodly amounts of money! Just like the new iPhone 3G, have you seen what people are wanting for their sh*tty iPhone? At least $750 for a used iPhone 3G 16gb, are you f*cking serious? They cost $299 in the store; the marketing GENIUSES should be fired and sent back to their local community college to take marketing basics 101!

Well, that may be true, but here in England, it took us a year and a half to get hold of the Wii itself. I've been checking everywhere to get hold of WiiFit, but nobody has any in stock anywhere.

I guess this is just Nintendo not realizing what the demand is gonna’ be and the outcome is pushing me towards PS3 at the moment...

Well seeing how Europe normally has it when a new game or console is sold its, it only fair that America shall have it lake that every now and again.
