Now this is entertainment. If you are looking for a break from serious anime or even fighting oriented anime, than look no further. You always need a good comedy series now and then and School Rumble is the perfect place to get that. I have to credit my brother for turning me on to this one. He was raving about it so I had to check it out. I was not disappointed.

The story revolves around a delinquent named Harima. Harima is the anti-hero of sorts. He matured faster than all the other kids, for example he is larger than older kids and already has facial hair! Harima has one weakness, he has the HUGEST crush on a girl at his school name Tenma. He has to beg the school principle just to get in her class. Tenma, unfortunately, has a crush someone else in the class. Our “hero” Harima must start attending school and fitting into the swing of things if he wants any shot at Tenma. To make things even more complicated, he has to shake off the perception that he is involved with Tenma’s younger yet more mature and extremely beautiful sister Yakumo. This story is hilarious and had me rolling almost every episode! Harima just cracks me up and he carries the show single handedly much of the time. Harima shows us that under that rough exterior, tough guys might not be all that they are cracked up to be and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

School Rumble’s visuals are not very impressive. Especially considering that it was created maybe 3 years ago at most. Having said that, the illustration is very comedic and I got used to it after the first couple of episodes. The sound is nothing memorable honestly. It’s definitely not a strength, but the voice actors are pretty funny so I got to give some props for that.

School Rumble is light hearted and always funny. It can go a tad bit slow at times, but it does a good job of consistently entertaining for the most part. A lot of the fun is a bit immature so I would probably recommend it for teens mostly. If you are a bit older and still able to appreciate the humor then good for you! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it will definitely entertain some people who are looking for laughs.
