If you are looking for Anime that is truly adult flavored, full of violence, criminal syndicates, and love at the same time, then look no further. Gungrave is the show for you. The story is about two friends named Brandon and Harry. Harry is an ambitious young gun who will do anything to get to the top. Brandon is a simple soul who's main qualities are loyalty and a passion for a woman. The two have many adventures together and we see the changes that they go through as they go from being a part of a small time gang to big shots who influence every aspect of life within their respective city. Their dedication to each other will be tested as well as the question of what is most important to them. Brandon and Harry's fates seem inevitably intertwined during the first part of the series. Even though they drift apart for some time, the ending can only be described as poetic.

Visually this anime looks good. No complaints on that end. The middle of the story is where the visuals and action really start to get nuts. After watching the first 8 or so episodes you might be like what am I talking about. Trust me, the action just keeps getting better and better. We have characters such as Kagashira Bunji and Balladbird Lee to thank for this. The action keeps on going right through the last episode and this should definitely be enough to keep all those action freaks out there entertained. Hey I am one of them, and I can tell you that this show definitely brings the heat.

The plot is very deep, but it is easy to follow at the same time. It keeps you hooked and that is essential for any successful anime series. One of the coolest things about this series is that there are so many semi-major characters to follow. I was very intrigued by the subplots of Harry's great four. The story with Cannon Balkan and Battlefield Brad was also a very interesting and a strangely touching segment of the series. In addition to fallen soldiers or men turned sadistic, love is also a prevalent theme in this series. I am talking about love for a woman and love for your friends. It made me think about what I value in my life and the people that I really care about and trust. It’s not as easy to answer this question as I thought.

This anime is very mature and is a must see. It is hardcore, it has tons of action and drama, and it should be remembered as one of the great animes of all time. It delivers on all fronts and may be the best anime that I have ever watched. Its a little over 20 episodes long and this length is perfect. GO WATCH THIS SERIES. It is certified bad ass.
