We all know Kelly for being the ever faithful side kick and 1/3 of the popular Destiny's Child. While Beyonce was blowing up the charts with every song she touched, Kelly was struggling to fid her own identity. Her first attempt was with her first solo album "Simply Deep" that had the two hit singles "Dilemma" feat. Nelly and "Stole". Now Kelly is back with her sophomore album "Ms. Kelly" that seems to have much more promise. "Like This" starts the album off strong with its strong Baltimore/DC Go-Go influence and Eve's strong rap verse and definitely shows that Kelly can hold her own. Songs such as "Comeback", "Ghetto" and "Work" have a smooth, futuristic sound to them. They almost sound like the songs you would play when getting ready for the "ladies night out". Some other stand out songs are "The Show" feat Tank that just makes you feel sexy just by listening to it! "Still in Love With My Ex" seems reminiscent of her Destiny Child days while my personal favorite "This is Love" showcases her true vocal talents. "All in all" this album is much better than her last and definitely has a few more chart toppers. She doesn't stray too far from her Destiny's Child roots yet lets us know that she is much more than Beyonce's background singer! She has come out of Beyonce's shadow and proven she can stand on her own.
